JOB DESCRIPTION: Supervises and manages the Roads and Grounds functional sections (Equipment Operations, and Roads & Grounds). Supervises, directs and coordinates subordinate personnel in all activities related to the planning, programming, operation and maintenance of motorized equipment, post roads and grounds. Ensures that all sections have operational plans for safety, fire prevention, emergency evacuation, accident, response and snow removal and that they have continuous training on plan(s) implementation.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university desirable, but not mandatory. Strong related experience may be substituted.
EXPERIENCE: Must demonstrate experience in the management of a 50-100 person workforce that is responsible for all aspects of roads grounds maintenance including: Directing the Branch with regards to the ordering, receiving, sorting, protection, storage, warehousing, inventorying, issuing of materials and supplies for Branch work. Must demonstrate the ability to schedule and prioritize tasks and monitor work performance. Experience in the planning, implementation and oversight of comprehensive safety and hazardous materials policies with a demonstrated track record of success. Must show experience in the methods and procedures employed to ensure conformance with requirements. Resolves technical problems. Shows knowledge in the preparation of charts, graphs and narratives as required for briefings and management review.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS: Must maintain all required city/county/state license(s) and/or certification(s), where applicable. Required to maintain a valid state driver’s license.
Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check. May be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, including successfully completing a thorough background investigation. For positions requiring use of a company and/or customer vehicle, must have a safe driving record within the past 36 months, as defined by company policy.
