Engineering & Cadet Support Services
KIRA is a 40% partner on the
joint venture that performs the $156,000,000 civil engineering and cadet
support service contract at the United States Air Force Academy. CH2M
HILL is KIRA’s 60% partner. The United States Air Force Academy
is the Air Force's Premier Institution for developing leaders of character.
Services on this contract are performed by CH2MHILL Academy Support,
LLC, a CH2M HILL/KIRA Company. This contract includes providing operations
and maintenance,
engineering, readiness and environmental support for the 18,000 acre site.
Our responsibility includes maintenance and repair of 257 facilities totaling
approximately 8,000,000 square feet. These facilities include administration,
logistics, industrial, commercial, educational, athletic and dormitory
buildings.
CH2MHILL Academy Support also maintains three 5,000 linear foot runways.
In addition, the company has these same responsibilities for two geographically
separated units at Bullseye Airfield and Farish Recreational Area. The
company is responsibile for managing the maintenance and repair for all
infrastructures to include electrical power distribution, water distribution,
sanitary sewer, storm drainage, natural gas distribution, and non-potable
water systems.
CH2MHILL Academy Support operates a 1.5 MGD wastewater treatment plant
and a 340 million BTUH central high temperature hot water heating plant.
The company also maintains 107 miles of paved and 73 miles of unpaved
roads and parking lots on base. CH2MHILL Academy Support also operates
an Energy Management Control System that supervises/controls HVAC functions
for 86 facilities. The company maintains 19 standby emergency generators
and 28 mobile generators to support backup power requirements in priority
facilities.
Our work force is made up of the following craftsmen: exterior electricians,
utility specialists, carpenters, interior electricians, plumbers, HVAC
technicians, electronics technicians, sheet metal workers, locksmiths,
heavy equipment operators, wastewater treatment operators, heating plant
operators, general maintenance mechanics, and general maintenance workers.
Monthly, the company reads approximately 250 utility meters. The company
also employs engineers, architects, planners, engineering technicians,
GIS and CADD specialists for our engineering responsibilities.
CH2MHILL Academy Support provides all IT management support for the civil
engineering squadron.
